From the beginning of the 20th Century the city of Evansville has been out branch in southern Indiana. As a result of the gain F.J. The women based their effort for a new steep school on the statistic that almos t one half of graduating studentsthat go to the west side Centennial Elementary School did non continue their education. It was felt that if a closer spunky school was offered so the students would more likely continue their education foregone the 6thgrade. On November 27, 1916 the school board decided to purchase 10 terra firma of land on woods Hills for the new high school.
on that point was much debate among the West side residents that Fo lie Hills was not easily accessible for students and parents. Reitz Jr. High school was laid. The city manager of Evansville at the time, Benjamin Bosse, took type in the ceremony. The impressive new structure shows off a panoramic view of Evansvilles growing downtown area and the Ohio River.
